6 immersive workshops to cultivate Adoption Literacy and emotional wellbeing.
This is a space for adult transracial adoptees*
We'll gather for six 90-minute sessions monthly and virtually on Zoom: Tuesdays 7:30pm-9:00pm Central Time July 9, Aug 6, Sep 10, Oct 8, Nov 5, and Dec 3, 2024
*the term "transracial" here refers to individuals who've experienced family separation and then placement into another family with different racial and/or ethnic identities (Barn, 2013; Branco, 2022)
Join author and therapist Cam Lee Small as he facilitates an exclusive series of 6 professionally curated experiential workshops over the course of 6 months, July-December 2024. Adult adoptees are invited to grow and be nourished through these immersive, open, gently guided sessions that speak to touchpoints commonly encountered throughout the lifespan.
This particular curriculum is inspired by Cam’s recently published book The Adoptee’s Journey: From Loss and Trauma to Healing and Empowerment. The purpose of the group is to help you as an adult adoptee to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, nurture healthy relationships, gain clarity about what adoption means (and doesn’t mean) to you, widen the scope of your responses to the stressors and joys of every-day life, and to overall promote increased capacities for mental health and empowerment toward a consciously hopeful future.
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the adult adoptee community to learn about one another’s experiences and to grow together in the context of helpful resources and mutual encouragement.
Here's what to expect:
- Safe, warm, invitational, confidential environment
- Flexible access from the comfort of your home / personal wifi space
- Open and relevant monthly themes that guide our discussion* [facilitated by adoptee and licensed mental health professional Cam Lee Small]
- Free access to online course for adult adoptees ($79) and adoptee workbook ($19)
- Co-created strategies and skills to apply personally and immediately
- Community, along with a place to share from your specific lived experience
*Themes open for discussion when we meet include Identity, Relationships, Navigating Workplace, Loss/Grief, Trauma, Family Dynamics, Adulthood and Lifespan, General Mental Health, and Envisioning the Future Individually and as a Community
